What are skin boosters?
Skin boosters are a rejuvenating treatment used to soften the appearance of fine lines. Unlike anti-wrinkle, which controls the muscular movement that leads to lines, Skin boosters aid in the rejuvenation of fine lines which are caused by general ageing. They can aid in collagen induction and they work to plump the skin and add lots of hydration leading to dewy, healthy glowing skin.
How do they work:
The fillers used for the treatment are made from hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is attracted to water. So, when the filler is placed very superficially in the skin it will cause water from within our tissues to migrate to the surface. Leading to a plump, firm and hydrated appearance.
Who are skin boosters good for?
Skin boosters are great for anyone wanting to increase superficial hydration in their skin to refresh and rejuvenate. It is particularly good for the appearance of “creepy” or thinning skin.
Where are they used?
Skin boosters are often used in the lower half of the cheeks, in the peri-oral area, for the treatment of acne scars and texture and on the backs of the hands.
Does the treatment hurt?
A topical anaesthetic is applied first to numb the skin. The product used also contains anaesthetic, so any discomfort is very minimal.
Down time?
Because the skin boosters are placed very superficially in the skin, this can lead to an increased chance of bruising – compared to other injectable treatments. Swelling is also common and will resolves within 24-48 hours.
