Chemical peels are used to treat many kinds of skin issues; aging, acne, pigment, dryness, sun damage and rejuvenation. Peels have studied and shown to be effective in the treatment of melanoma, acne and even rosacea.
When performed by educated practitioners they are a safe and effective skin treatment.
Superficial Peels are the most commonly used peels and comprise a wide variety of ingredients such as alpha hydroxy acids (lactic acid and glycolic acid), beta hydroxy acids such as salicylic acid and trichloracetic acid (TCA). These compounds induce a desquamation of the top layer of the skin encouraging a speeding up of the cell cycle turnover.. The result? Fresher, smoother looking and feeling skin with an even texture and tone. Often we will use a combination of acids in the one treatment to get the various layers of the superficial skin for more dramatic results Chemical peels need to be prescribed according to the individual skin needs are highly tailored.
Chemical peels can be combined with laser, extractions and/or LED for even greater results.
